Architectural Drawings

You will need architectural drawings of your proposed extension before you begin approaching any contractors or government bodies. The drawings will demonstrate how big the extension will be, what it entails and if it will cross over any boundaries that you might not own. We can recommend good architects if you need help.  The architects will be able to tell you if it’s possible to have what you envisage and will show the builders exactly what they’re quoting for. These drawings must be full and complete drawings, including dimensions and sizing. We would recommend having a specification written so everyone who quotes your work will quote for the same thing.

Planning Permission

For any adaptation or structural changes to your property, you must gain permission from your local planning department and/or  building control. You can look on your local council website to see which department you need for your works.
